What Do Whites Want? - Director's Editorial
Some data beyond demographics
It’s no secret that I, with significant help from Cyan and others, write a lot about demographics here at White Papers. The demographic transformation of Western countries, White countries, is the most pressing political, cultural, economic, and social issue of our time and one that requires Whites to believe there are solutions. But, demographic change is not the only major issue of our time.
Whites across the world rarely get any political change they desire, they live in built environments they dislike, and when democratic will is exercised it is ignored or overruled by other institutions, sometimes in their own countries and sometimes by postwar international institutions.
Many people, particularly the Conservative media who love to champion supposed non-White social conservatism, portray Whites as broken, hopelessly liberal, and beyond hope. The reality is that most Whites have strong preferences for traditional modes of living, traditional gender roles, large families, and orderly societies.
Whites want: less LGBTQ(etc) nonsense
Whites are the least likely to want children to be taught homosexual, transgender, or other non-traditional themes in the school system.
Compare this to 43% of Black, 44% of Asian, and 32.5% of Hispanic Americans who are comfortable with their children being taught these subjects. Nearly double the White share.
More Whites, about 53%, think that high school-age kids should learn about these topics. While concerning this share represents barely half of Whites. While 75% of Blacks, 87% of Asians, and 65% of Hispanics believe that these themes are appropriate for high schoolers. Those rates are 50% higher than White preferences for this style of teaching.
Only 15% of Whites believe elementary-aged children should be assigned books with LGBT themes while 35.5% of Whites believe high schools should be assigned books with these themes. Whites have a clear preference against this style of literature. Once again all other racial groups in America have a much higher (average 10 point) preference for the assigning of this style of material.
Whites are the group second most likely to affirm that sex and gender are inseparable from how people are born (61%), behind only Black Americans (68%). The overall share of Americans who believe that “gender transitioning” is morally wrong is increasing. In 2021 only 51% of Americans had a moral opposition to gender transitioning, that share has increased to 55% as of May 2023.
It is important that I interject here. Yes, 69% of Whites still favor the right of homosexuals to marry, but this is of little significance. Whites perceive the right to marry as a right all should enjoy, rather than a social issue that might damage children or society.
What is significant is that Whites are the most oppositional to children, and their society, being forced to believe that homosexuality, transgender rights, etc are inherently valuable concepts. Whites are leading the charge against the sexualization of children and other liberal social agendas.
The evil “White liberal” boogeyman of Conservative Inc media has a lot of non-White allies and an overwhelmingly White opposition.
Whites want: more children
The data is clear, a large set of White women have a preference for more children, but the modern economic and social environment has made this an impossibility.
In the 1980s, when Whites were still 80% of the American population and the country was in the midst of the Boomer social revolution (A LOT of divorces, abortion, and drug use) the preference for large families (three or more children) reached an all-time low of just 28%. Today some 45% of Americans want a family with three or more children, including 41% of Whites who want a family with three or more children.
Women have a slight preference for larger families as well, so among White women, the preference for a family of three or more children is roughly 45%. This is a share which has nearly doubled since the 1980s.
But, desires for large families come up against the social realities of life in modern America. Only 34% of White women who are through their fertility window have three or more children, a full 10 points below the number of White women who desire three or more children.
In our piece entitled Nationalist Policy Making and Women, we took a deep dive into the reasons why this is. Namely, it is twofold:
Women feel pressured to put their careers first, despite preferring to have children (thus delaying fertility by a decade or more).
Economic insecurity keeps many more women working full-time when most women want to be stay-at-home mothers and then take up part-time work that accommodates their schedule.
The share of married mothers who work full-time in the US is 45%, yet only 28% want to work full-time. 56% of current mothers with children under 18 would prefer to stay at home with their children.
We suggest a range of policy options to remedy this situation and give Whites the larger families they desire.
Whites want: beautiful places to live
Surveys, studies, and polls have repeatedly shown that Whites prefer traditional and vernacular architectural styles as opposed to the glass and concrete of modernism.
A recent 2023 study from the United Kingdom showed that 84% of Britons favored traditional architectural styles and that an overwhelming majority of Britons viewed modern architecture and expansions of their town or village footprint as being damaging to the area’s strong sense of identity.
In the United States, a recent 2020 survey showed that 75% of White Americans prefer traditional and vernacular styles of architecture, with support being 10 points higher among women (77%) as opposed to men (67%). Additionally, some 79% of Americans would like to live in communities designed with walkability in mind, namely so that they have corner stores, public parks, and safe spaces for their children which are not high-speed suburban streets or enclosed backyards.
Another 2023 study by PEW asked a wider array of questions, including home size and a broader range of amenities. This study found that 40% of Whites would prefer to live in an area where they could walk to schools, stores, and restaurants in exchange for slightly smaller homes.
The main point here is that Whites have strong preferences for specific places to live, work, and spend their social time. Places which are not being built. Most cities are full to the brim with soulless modern architecture, while the classical and vernacular architecture that exists is being mutilated.
