The UK’s 1.7 Million Non-Working Immigrants
They Cost Much More Than £8.5 Billion
I recently opened an email newsletter that informed its readers of some 1.689 million non-UK citizens who are unemployed, economically inactive, and living off the British welfare state. This newsletter also mentioned that the cost of maintaining these 1.7 million non-working immigrants was over £8.5 billion a year, but I instantly knew this was a gross underestimate.
The original report, published by the Centre for Migration Studies, shows that more nearly £36 billion pounds have been spent on economically inactive migrants since just 2020 and this figure is increasing annually, once students are included.
Without students the British state, funded by the (native) British taxpayer, has spent more than £23.8 billion on economically inactive migrants since 2020. This spending is equivalent to 30% of the UK’s £120 billion 2023 budget deficit, a figure that I find striking but am not surprised by.
White Papers has previously covered the significant cost migrants place upon the British taxpayer and calculated, even if loosely, that non-Britons and non-UK citizens are responsible for some 68% of Britain’s annual budget deficit and a roughly equal share of this country’s national debt.
Without migrants Britain would have a national debt of a few hundred billion pounds, but we currently have more than £2.1 trillion in debt as a nation, a figure which continues to increase and one which politicians do not seem to have a problem with.
The best example offered in the piece, at least in my opinion, would be the figures on policing. Britain and Poland have very similar White populations with England in particular sporting 41.5 million native Britons and Poland home to a population of roughly 38 million Poles. The two countries pay their police officers similar salaries yet the cost of their police forces are radically different.
The Poles spent just 2.3 billion on their police service in 2022 while the British state poured more than 17 billion into its police force in fiscal year 2022-2023. Britain is spending more nearly 7.5 times the amount on its police service than Poland, and it must be demographically related. Poles, like Britons, are not a high crime population, but Poland has one radically different factor: it has no population of recent immigrants or their descendants. More than 11 million non-British non-European immigrants reside in the United Kingdom, with nearly all of them taking up residence in England.
And this is reinforced by the more than 1.6 million ethnic minority community members in Britain who have a criminal record and conviction. A group which White Papers has pointed out numerous times could be denaturalized and repatriated to their ethnic homelands. But, the British state is far more concerned with arresting 11 year olds for ‘rioting’ than it is with ensuring that foreign criminals aren’t going around visiting acts of violence of fraud upon the British public.
The UK could also (rather easily) cancel the visas of the 1.7 million economically inactive migrants who are currently living off the British tax system. Combining this population with the criminals, and assuming there is minimum overlap, the United Kingdom could deport some 3.2 million non-Britons who are contributing nothing to this society. This action would also increase the British share of the population from 76.8% today to roughly 81%, a near 5 point jump simply by focusing on two groups of non-Britons who don’t contribute to this island or its prosperity.
These are simply actions that the British state could take to begin to undo decades of mass immigration and begin reversing the impact of the Great Replacement. The data also shows that such actions would be welcomed by most of the British public. The We Were Never Asked project surveyed more than 2,000 Britons and found that roughly 70% of the British public believes that the decline of the native British to minority status is a “bad” thing.
Similarly, a poll by the Policy Institute of King’s College London found that 32% of the British public believe that the Great Replacement is happening with a further 19% being unsure and only 29% claiming that the Great Replacement “definitely” is not happening.
The expense, cost in lives, and chaos of social cohesion being caused by the Great Replacement in this country simply is not worth it. The British elite must follow the example of Suella Braverman, herself of Indian extraction, and admit that multiculturalism in this country has failed. They cannot admit this fact and then continue with the project of the Great Replacement as Angela Merkel did, though. Instead, this admission must be brought about by public pressure and followed up with concrete policy changes and the steady replacement of the current British elite with politicians who are willing to begin peaceably reversing the process of the Great Replacement in a way that the majority of Britons can get behind.
If we are to rescue the British nation state and the four nations that compose it we must first admit that the current path has been a failure and that the 1.7 million are an ultimate representation of that failure.
